About The Position

The Sales Associate works as a Customer Service Associate at Lowe’s, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for home improvement projects. The role involves answering questions, listening to customers, helping them locate and select merchandise, occasionally loading merchandise, and ensuring customer needs are met. Associates are assigned to a department based on hiring needs and skillsets; possible departments include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, and Pro Services. Daily responsibilities vary by department and may include preparing merchandise to customer specifications, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. The position requires prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities needed to perform the job. Work may take place indoors or outdoors and can involve exposure to varied or extreme weather and climates, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, limiting single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment should be used as required with proper training or help from a trained coworker. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
Bilingual skills.
Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
Down-stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
Accurately process orders and deliveries so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help deliver customer service.
Prepare merchandise in the assigned department according to customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
Complete other duties as assigned.
