Full Time - Sales Associate - Plumbing - Closing
About The Position
The Sales Associate works in the Plumbing department during a closing shift, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for home improvement projects. The role combines customer service with product assistance, merchandise handling, shelf replenishment, and accurate order and delivery processing. Associates may cross-train in other store departments and prepare merchandise to meet customer needs, such as cutting and threading pipe. The position may involve occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Working conditions can include indoor and outdoor environments, variable and extreme weather, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- A certification in a trade related to the department, such as plumbing.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate, select, and handle merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
- Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, including cutting and threading pipe where applicable.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
