Full Time - Sales Associate - Inside Lawn & Garden - Day
About The Position
The Sales Associate works in the Inside Lawn & Garden department during the day, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for their home improvement needs. The role involves listening to customers, answering questions, helping customers locate and select merchandise, and occasionally loading merchandise. Associates also organize and replenish merchandise, process orders and deliveries, and prepare products according to customer needs. Department assignments and daily responsibilities may vary based on store hiring needs and associates’ skillsets. The role may require occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores. Working conditions may include indoor and outdoor environments, varied and sometimes extreme weather, noise, and moving or shaking equipment and objects. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, including limiting individual lifts to 75 pounds and using powered equipment only as required and with proper training or assistance.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or over 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and down stocking supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help provide customer service.
- Prepare merchandise based on customer needs, such as mixing paint, cutting pipe, wood, drywall, or blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
