About The Position

The Sales Associate provides excellent customer service and performs duties necessary for the daily operations of a Goodwill Keystone Area retail store. The role is part of the Donated Goods Retail department and reports to the Customer Service Manager. The position is part-time, non-exempt, and based at the West Chester Store in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The listed pay is $14.00 per hour.

The Sales Associate helps customers, operates the register, and maintains an attractive, organized, and clean sales floor. The role also supports Goodwill Keystone Area’s mission, organizational programs, special events, workplace safety, and additional tasks and projects as needed. Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Requirements

• No formal education is necessary.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to read, write, hear, and speak.
• Must be able to perform simple math.
• Must be able to operate equipment such as a cash register and credit/debit machines.
• Must be able to speak English to interact satisfactorily with donors and customers.
• Must present a neat and positive appearance.
• Must be able to identify clothing sizes and gender-specific differences.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift.
• Must be able to push and pull racks requiring up to 20 pounds of force for up to 100 feet for 10% of the shift.
• Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions associated with cash register use every few seconds for more than 75% of the shift.
• Must be able to repetitively lift textiles on hangers weighing up to 4 pounds at or above head level for 25% of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers and answer the telephone in a positive, professional manner.
• Operate the cash register and process credit and debit transactions accurately and according to Goodwill Keystone Area policies and procedures.
• Organize, color-coordinate, and rotate merchandise on the sales floor.
• Maintain an attractive and convenient sales-floor layout, visual merchandising, and store cleanliness.
• Promote and represent Goodwill Keystone Area and its mission positively.
• Participate in organizational programs and special events.
• Support additional tasks and projects as needed.
• Promote workplace safety and perform duties in accordance with safety requirements.
• Communicate progress, problems, and concerns to the Customer Service Manager.
