About The Position

The Sales Associate promotes and sells merchandise displayed on the showroom floor. This role involves working directly with internal and external customers, following up on customer orders and inquiries, and assisting with any merchandise-related problems in conjunction with customer service and warehouse operations. The Sales Associate will also work on an organizational level with other departments to ensure customer needs are met. Key responsibilities include understanding customer needs by asking questions about products, prices, availability, and uses, explaining product features in an understandable manner, and recommending products based on customer specifications. The role requires staying educated on new products, policies, and advertisements, and performing any other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift merchandise of 10lbs.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to listen and respond to customer’s needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Knowledge of employment and safety procedures.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, climbing, crawling, walking, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing/listening and repetitive motion.
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs rarely, and/or up to 10 lbs occasionally to move objects.

  • Sales experience preferred, not required.

  • Knowledge of methods for showing, promoting, and selling products; use excellent customer relations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell merchandise displayed on the showroom floor.
  • Work directly with internal and external customers.
  • Follow up with customer orders and inquiries.
  • Assist with any problems associated with merchandise in conjunction with customer service and warehouse operations.
  • Work on an organizational level with other departments to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Ask customers questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses to get a better understanding of the customer’s needs.
  • Explain features of products in a manner that the customer will understand.
  • Explain features of products that will benefit the customers based on their needs.
  • Prepare sales tickets for orders obtained.
  • Assist customers in making product selections based on customers specifications.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs.
  • Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
  • Stay educated on new products, policies, as well as advertisements the store is running.
  • Follow up with customers by email and phone.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by management.
