Full Time - Sales Associate - Inside Lawn & Garden - Closing
About The Position
The Sales Associate works in the Inside Lawn & Garden department during the closing shift, welcoming customers and helping them find products and services for home improvement needs. The role focuses on listening to customers, answering questions, locating and handling merchandise, and providing friendly, professional service. Associates may occasionally load merchandise and help customers through shopping or checkout. Daily tasks vary by department and may include replenishing shelves, processing orders and deliveries, and preparing merchandise to meet customer needs. Associates may also train across other store areas to support customer service.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed.
- Use powered equipment as required, with proper training or assistance from a trained coworker.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and restocking them.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately and on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
- Prepare merchandise for customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Occasionally load merchandise.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
