About The Position
As a Customer Service Associate at Lowe’s, you welcome customers and help them find products and services for their home improvement needs. You listen to customers, answer questions, assist with product selection and handling, occasionally load merchandise, and help ensure their needs are met. Associates are assigned to a department based on hiring needs and skillsets; departments may include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Inside Garden, Hardware, Tools, Millwork, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Home Décor, Tool Rental, or Pro Services. Department duties can include preparing merchandise for customers, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds. The role may involve working indoors and outdoors in variable weather and exposure to noise and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Follow lifting guidelines that limit single lifts to 75 pounds; team lifts are used minimally starting at 75 pounds or when needed, and powered equipment should be used as required with proper training or assistance.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and deliver friendly, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with locating and handling merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately so customers receive merchandise as expected and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other store areas to help deliver customer service.
- Prepare merchandise in the department based on customer needs, such as tinting and mixing paint, cutting and threading pipe, cutting and bundling wood, cutting drywall, or cutting blinds.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
