About The Position

The Sales Associate supports the store management team in the overall operation and performance of the store, including sales, merchandising, and operations. The role contributes to the well-being of animals and pets while helping the store meet sales goals and maintain efficient daily operations. Associates are expected to enhance the shopping experience for pets and their people, follow company policies and procedures, and adhere to operational and brand standards. The position involves welcoming and assisting customers with product selection, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, caring for animals in the store, supporting the fish system, and replenishing merchandise. Most work is spent on the sales floor, standing or moving around, in a relatively temperature-stable environment. The role may occasionally involve working alone, and accidental injuries from pets, slips, trips, falls, or lifting are possible. Heavy lifting up to 55 pounds may be required repeatedly during a shift.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, according to business needs.
Ability to perform physical duties and dexterity-related tasks, including repeatedly lifting up to 55 pounds during a shift.
Ability to spend most of the work time standing or moving around the sales floor.
Active listening when communicating with customers and employees, and active observation when merchandising the store.

Responsibilities

Assist with sales, service, and customer-experience initiatives by demonstrating the company's selling and service models.
Acknowledge, welcome, and thank customers in a friendly and timely manner.
Help customers select products and answer questions so they can find appropriate food and accessories for their pets.
Follow brand standards to maintain the consistency and reputation of the store.
Work with the store team to meet or exceed targeted sales goals and daily sales goals.
Clean pet enclosures and ensure animals have appropriate food and water.
Support maintenance of the fish system.
Restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures and move products from the stockroom to the sales floor.
Maintain a clean, neat, and safe shopping environment and a high level of customer readiness.
Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when communicating with customers and employees.
Complete tasks and other duties assigned by store management.
Follow company policies and procedures communicated by the Sunrise Support Office.
