About The Position

As a Sales Associate at Petco, you are at the heart of the Pet Care Center experience. You help pet parents find products and solutions for their pets while creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment. The role is suited to someone who enjoys helping others, learning about pet care, and working with a team in a fast-paced retail setting. The position involves customer service and sales, cashiering, stocking and replenishing merchandise, supporting inventory accuracy, and helping maintain store presentation and cleanliness. Associates also support the health and safety of animals, share accurate product and pet care information, and follow company policies and safety standards. Work takes place in a Pet Care Center retail environment with active engagement on the sales floor. The role involves frequent standing and walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting, including safely moving merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. Associates may be exposed to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals. Flexible availability is required to support store operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requirements

Passion for animals and an interest in pet care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and transactions.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in proximity to animals and tolerate exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.
Flexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Support the health, safety, and proper care of animals in accordance with Petco policies and standards.
Share accurate product and pet care information to help customers make informed choices.
Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for pets, customers, and partners.
Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and solution-focused service.
Create positive shopping experiences that build customer trust and loyalty.
Collaborate with and support teammates.
Help maintain an organized, visually appealing sales floor.
Assist customers in selecting products and services that meet their pets’ needs.
Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently, including cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.
Stock shelves, replenish merchandise, and support inventory integrity and stock accuracy.
Assist with store recovery, merchandising, and promotional set-ups.
Support store sales and service goals and daily operational routines.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
