About The Position

Break Time Sales Associates assist customers, process sales transactions, and perform operational and food preparation duties to keep the convenience store clean and well stocked. They follow company policies and procedures to support proper and efficient store operations during their scheduled shift. The role involves customer service, merchandising, store technology, teamwork, food preparation, sanitation, and communication with customers, vendors, employees, and management. Employees are expected to follow company and position-specific policies and procedures and may be assigned other duties.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Friendly, customer-service-oriented disposition and enjoyment of a fast-paced work environment.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
Reliable transportation to work.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and account for products during vendor check-in.
Ability to learn new concepts, use technical materials, and consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
Ability and willingness to attend food safety training and obtain a Food Handler’s Card or equivalent certification.
Physical ability to move and position products in a cooler with temperatures as low as 30 degrees for up to one hour and in a freezer with temperatures as low as 0 degrees.
Physical ability to move and position oneself to retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters, or inventory stacks, including items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for up to nine hours per shift.
Ability to visually observe and inspect items and the work environment for job-related and safety concerns.
Ability and willingness to occasionally ascend and descend ladders to handle inventory or products.
Ability to perform assigned tasks accurately and with minimal supervision.
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English to communicate accurately and effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
Must meet company requirements, including successfully completing a pre-employment background check and drug test.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Greet and thank customers courteously, provide fast and friendly service, process accurate and efficient transactions, and address customer concerns promptly and courteously.
Perform merchandising activities, including pricing merchandise, learning and implementing promotions and sales, suggestive selling, checking in vendors, and keeping merchandise stocked, clean, fronted, and faced, including cooler merchandise.
Maintain store cleanliness.
Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with customers, vendors, employees, and management about store operations.
Work as part of a team to serve customers efficiently while following applicable local, state, and federal regulations concerning job duties and store operations.
Use point-of-sale systems, desktop and laptop computers, and handheld devices; perform calculations for making change, completing shift reports, and counting products.
Help train new employees on company policies and procedures.
Perform loss-control functions involving cash handling, lottery sales and redemptions, food waste, employee purchases, and merchandise sales; remain alert and report concerns appropriately.
Prepare food according to guidelines, recipes, and job aids for food service programs.
Inspect food products for correct time and temperature, cleanliness, rotation, portioning, and pricing.
Use ovens, roller grills, fryers, and other kitchen tools to prepare and present food items.
Sanitize and maintain equipment, dishes, and food service areas; follow standards for quality, service, cleanliness, food safety, product display, and storage.
Clean the store when time allows.
