About The Position

The Sales Associate provides Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) customers with courteous, proactive, world-class customer service and supports customer loyalty. Associates assist customers across retail operations and make reasonable efforts to resolve challenging situations before seeking help from a Specialist or supervisor. They represent Marine Corps and MCX programs, including Military Star, Super Star Student, customer satisfaction surveys, and Keep it New. Associates may be scheduled throughout the facility according to business needs, including cashiering or self-checkout, customer service, salesfloor and department support, stockroom and backroom work, and military clothing. Work may take place indoors, outdoors, or in coolers and chillers; limited time durations and appropriate PPE are provided for cooler and chiller work. Associates regularly assigned to particular areas are expected to learn basic product knowledge. The role includes retail operations and equipment use, inventory preparation and participation, identifying and communicating potential loss or theft risks, and maintaining safety and operational standards. Additional training or certifications, such as food safety or fuel training, may be required based on business needs or assignments. This is a mixed position requiring the ability to lift and carry objects up to 45 pounds independently and objects over 45 pounds with assistance.

Requirements

Ability to read and understand operating standards and procedures for service, service recovery, sales, and store brand, and to execute them properly.
Ability to work in a high-performance environment and commit to service and sales goals.
Attention to detail.
At least one year of experience in a customer- and sales-focused environment is preferred.
Cash-handling, basic-math, and register experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide courteous, friendly, professional, proactive customer service and support customer loyalty.
Assist customers with retail needs and attempt to resolve challenging situations before escalating to a Specialist or supervisor.
Promote Marine Corps and MCX programs, including Military Star, Super Star Student, customer satisfaction surveys, and Keep it New.
Work in assigned facility areas, which may include cashiering, self-checkout, customer service, salesfloor or department support, stockroom or backroom, and military clothing.
Learn basic product knowledge for regularly assigned areas.
Complete customer and register transactions, planogram revisions and setups, identify missing products, replenish sales floors and coolers, set promotional signage, and perform visual merchandising.
Maintain backroom standards through the 5S program and complete other store operations tasks.
Perform light housekeeping, such as sweeping, dusting, and trash removal, as assigned.
Work with Specialists and supervisors to receive mentoring, guidance, and training.
Use basic retail equipment, including cash registers, time clocks, RF scanners, mobile printers, handheld equipment, signage equipment, and basic fixtures.
Assist with preparation for and participate in year-end inventory.
Identify and communicate potential risks of loss or theft.
Complete additional training or certifications required for business needs or assigned work, which may include food safety and fuel training.
Engage team members through positive conversations and promote customer satisfaction in a team-oriented environment.
Follow safety regulations and standards and adhere to EEO and sexual-harassment-prevention standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
