About The Position

The Shop/Café Sales Associate welcomes customers, guides them to products, answers questions, processes sales, and ensures all guests have an exceptional experience while at HNOC’s Shop and Café. This position is responsible for conducting sales on the POS systems. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the Shop and Café, and ensuring the space is orderly, attractive, and welcoming. In the Café, this position ensures that the food and beverage service operation enhances the quality of the Museum’s visitor experience by providing efficient and friendly customer service, and consistently presenting a professional approach to the overall food and beverage service operations. They are critical to minimizing product loss. They may also assist in receiving and inventory management for The Shop and The Café, as needed. This position may occasionally assist with special events.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of retail or café/restaurant experience
  • Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to resolve problems and make decisions independently
  • Ability to learn and retain product and HNOC information
  • Ability to follow procedures and carry out instructions from Management
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
  • Maintains basic knowledge of POS system
  • Good physical condition with ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a team-orientated, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Demonstrated initiative, thoroughness, and accuracy
  • Punctuality, reliability and flexibility in an evolving work environment
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

Responsibilities

  • Works in both The Shop and The Café
  • Welcomes public customers into The Shop and The Café
  • Provides guests with information on products, foods or beverages
  • Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge
  • Promotes special sales, offers, exhibits, and awareness of HNOC membership program
  • Maintains Shop and Café cleanliness
  • Café: Ensures compliance with all health and safety standards; prepares food and beverages in accordance with HNOC standards
  • Assists with all team projects and tasks, including shipping, restocking and organizing
  • Flexible schedule to support HNOC events
