About The Position

The Sales Associate helps customers with home improvement projects by providing expert product advice, building customer relationships, and delivering an exceptional shopping experience. The role involves working hands-on with products, tools, and materials in a fast-paced retail environment and contributing to the Aubuchon Difference through customer service and teamwork. Associates greet customers, identify their needs, recommend products and complementary items, and address product questions. They process sales and returns, support loyalty programs and promotions, fulfill online orders, maintain and replenish the sales floor, and perform services such as propane filling, key cutting, glass cutting, screen repair, and cutting chain, wire, and rope. The position also includes assembling products, using communication and point-of-sale technology, and safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment. The role requires completing applicable safety training and certifications, following company policies and safety regulations, and reporting hazards. The work involves standing and moving throughout shifts, frequent lifting and carrying, and working in an animal-friendly environment. Weekend availability is required. The position is part-time and pays $16 to $18 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach.
Organizational and problem-solving skills.
Basic math skills for transactions, inventory management, and project estimates.
Ability to operate tools and machinery, including key-cutting machines, material-handling equipment, and forklifts.
Willingness to complete forklift and propane certification within 90 days of hire.
Positive, professional, and approachable demeanor.
Flexibility to work weekends and adapt to business needs.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, push, and reach throughout shifts.
Must be comfortable working in an animal-friendly environment; accommodations are available upon request.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service and ensure customers feel valued throughout their shopping experience.
Greet customers, understand their needs, and guide them to suitable solutions.
Recommend products and complementary items and explain their features and applications.
Use Theatro communication technology to coordinate with the team.
Promote the loyalty program, in-store events, and monthly promotions.
Encourage customers to provide feedback through Google reviews or other approved platforms.
Process sales and returns accurately using the POS system.
Keep aisles, shelves, cashier stations, and other work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Monitor inventory and communicate restocking needs to management.
Fulfill online orders accurately and promptly for in-store and curbside pickup.
Develop knowledge of assigned departments and related categories to help customers with projects.
Perform services including filling propane, key cutting, glass cutting, screen repair, and cutting chain, wire, and rope.
Safely operate forklifts and powered material-handling equipment for stocking and inventory movement.
Answer technical and product-related questions and escalate complex inquiries as needed.
Assemble products for displays and customer orders.
Complete required safety training and certifications, including forklift operation.
Immediately report hazards and unsafe conditions to the Leader on Duty.
