About The Position
As a Customer Service Associate in the Plumbing department, you provide friendly, professional customer service and help customers find products and services for home improvement projects. You welcome customers, answer questions, assist with product selection and merchandise handling, and help ensure orders and deliveries are accurate and on time. The role may involve organizing and replenishing merchandise, preparing department products to meet customer needs, and occasionally loading merchandise. Associates may cross-train in other store areas and perform additional duties as assigned. The position involves working in a retail store environment that may include indoor and outdoor conditions, varied climates, noise, and moving equipment or objects. Occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed, but regular travel is not required.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer to input, access, modify, or output information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or lift more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- A certification in a trade related to the department, such as plumbing.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate and handle merchandise.
- Replenish merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and restocking supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately and on time.
- Cross-train in other store areas to support customer service.
- Prepare merchandise for customer needs, such as cutting and threading pipe.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
