Full Time - Sales Associate - Building Materials - Day
About The Position
As a Customer Service Associate in Building Materials, you provide friendly, professional service and help customers find products and services for their home improvement needs. You welcome customers, answer questions, help select and handle merchandise, and may occasionally load merchandise. You also organize and replenish products, process orders and deliveries, and prepare merchandise according to customer needs. Associates may cross-train in other store areas and may perform department-specific tasks such as cutting and bundling wood or cutting drywall. Department assignments depend on hiring needs and skillsets.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
- At least 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to perform duties that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary for the job.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- At least 6 months of retail and/or customer service experience.
- Bilingual skills.
- Certification in a trade related to the department, such as hardware, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, or lumber/building materials.

Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Help customers locate, select, and handle merchandise.
- Down stock merchandise by identifying empty shelf areas and replenishing supplies.
- Process orders and deliveries accurately and on time.
- Cross-functionally train in other areas of the store to support customer service.
- Prepare department merchandise to meet customer needs, such as cutting and bundling wood or cutting drywall.
- Guide customers through shopping or checkout.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Occasionally load merchandise.
