About The Position

The Sales Associate represents Goodwill’s retail operations and works collaboratively with the sales team to serve customers and support a positive impact on the community. The role provides courteous customer service, helps maintain and replenish merchandise on the sales floor, operates the register and payment equipment, and keeps the store clean, orderly, and professional. Sales team members are expected to demonstrate action orientation, customer focus, composure, and time management.

Requirements

Effectively communicate with customers and Goodwill associates.
Provide exceptional customer service.
Settle customer complaints.
Perform basic math skills.
Stand for prolonged periods, up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift.
Bend and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
Have basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of previous work experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a retail environment.
Excellent customer-service-related skills.
Working knowledge of a cash register.
Complete fluency in English and multilingual ability.

Responsibilities

Provide professional and courteous service to customers in the store, outside the store, and over the phone.
Ensure merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
Ring customer purchases accurately on the register.
Handle cash accurately, including making change and operating and maintaining the cash register, check and charge card machine, and calculator.
Maintain knowledge of merchandise and answer customer questions courteously and promptly.
Keep floor merchandise neat and orderly on racks, shelves, and in bins, and assist customers with purchase selections.
Maintain a clean, professional appearance.
Keep the register area orderly and clean.
Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary.
Perform general housekeeping and store upkeep, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting restrooms and dressing rooms.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
