About The Position

As a Specialty Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company, highlighting our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation. You will assist customers, help them recognize the need for our products and services, and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. Requirements

  • 1-2 years of Retail or relevant work experience required.
  • 6 months of product specific experience required.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of how products work, warranties, and ability to compare products by features.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
  • Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios.
  • Ability to multi-task while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to understand and problem-solve customer needs.
  • 6 months responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled.
  • Graduation from a full 4 year or senior high school or possession of a General Education Development High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) may be substituted for the experience requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
  • Ask questions and listen to customer's needs.
  • Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card.
  • Provide premier customer service.
  • Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
  • Use specific knowledge to demonstrate product features and provide comparisons with similar products.
  • Take upper and lower body measurements for the purpose of ensuring proper fit of tailored articles (when selling clothing or military uniforms).
  • Maintain store appearance.
  • Cross-sell products and know the layout of the store.
  • Make suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on their individual needs.
  • Upsell products.
  • Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide customers with product knowledge specs.
  • Use a Point-of-Sales system to process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
  • Complete various forms of paperwork/reports and reconciliation.
  • Handle special order merchandise requests, including ordering, tracking, and providing updates to customers.
  • Be the keeper of merchandise, complete all inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
  • Participate in periodic inventories.
  • Adhere to assigned work schedule.
  • Ensure accurate and complete follow-through on work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
