About The Position

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) operates a no-fee rehabilitation program for men and women. The Old Pasadena Thrift Store is part of the organization’s Retail Team and supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program. The Sales Associate/Material Handler helps provide positive experiences for customers and donors while contributing to the program and its participants. The pay rate is $18.57 per hour. The role involves customer and donor service, merchandising and inventory handling, maintaining a clean and organized store and donation area, following point-of-sale policies, and meeting safety and compliance standards. Work schedules are determined by Management to ensure adequate store coverage. Stores operate seven days per week; part-time associates may be scheduled for any part-time shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions.
Must pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry checks.
Ability to communicate effectively with Management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, drawers, clothing and merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks.
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be flexible to support adequate store coverage; part-time associates may work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and donors genuinely and provide prompt, courteous assistance to meet their needs.
Stock priced items for merchandising on the sales floor.
Help maintain a clean, neat, and organized store and donation area, and perform cleaning duties assigned by Management.
Follow POS/cash register policies in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies and procedures.
Maintain safety and compliance standards.
Attend required monthly store meetings.
Receive, unload, and accurately and efficiently stock incoming inventory.
Inspect products for defects and damage as part of quality assurance.
Assist donors courteously with removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
Separate and sort donated material into the appropriate containers and stack it as instructed by Management.
Perform other written or verbal duties assigned by Management.
