About The Position

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no-fee program that assists men and women in completing its rehabilitation program. The Retail Team supports the Adult Rehabilitation Program at the Huntington Beach Store and serves the local community. The Sales Associate/Material Handler helps provide a positive shopping and donor experience while supporting store operations and the program’s participants.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions.
• Must pass a background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry checks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
• Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as carts, racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks, and hand trucks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform repetitive-motion tasks.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors genuinely and provide prompt, courteous assistance to meet their needs.
• Stock priced items so they are ready to be merchandised on the sales floor.
• Help maintain a clean, neat, and organized store and donation area, and perform cleaning duties assigned by Management.
• Follow TSA policies and procedures for POS and cash register operations.
• Maintain safety and compliance standards.
• Attend required monthly store meetings.
• Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory accurately and efficiently.
• Inspect products for defects and damage as part of quality assurance.
• Assist donors courteously with removing donated items from their vehicles and provide receipts.
• Separate and sort donated material into proper containers and stack it as instructed by Management.
• Perform other written or verbal duties assigned by Management.
