Requirements

  • Received training in an approved forty-two (42) month apprenticeship program or a certified testing program, or must have nine (9) years of continuous line construction/maintenance experience.
  • Foreman shall have a working knowledge of all aspects of line work and have the capability and expertise to work independently if required.
  • Has worked in the line industry as an apprentice lineman for at least 4 years.
  • Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Capable of climbing wooden poles and towers.
  • Walking and working across uneven terrain.
  • Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
  • Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.
  • May be required to hold a valid class “B” commercial driver’s license.
  • May be required to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Drives and operates conveyance machinery equipped with tools and materials to and from job site.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) as required.
  • Perform work in a safe manner on energized and de-energized distribution systems.
  • Safely install and remove cover up material.
  • String, sag, and dead-end conductor.
  • Climb poles/towers using fall protection systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems on distribution systems.
  • Understand procedures to safely dig holes in the presence of underground utilities.
  • Safely set/replace poles (wooden, steel, concrete) on an energized distribution system.
  • Perform a re-conductor job safely.
  • Understand minimum approach distances.
  • Properly inspect rubber goods, cover materials, and PPE.
  • Safely operate a digger derrick and bucket truck.
  • Inspect and maintain company equipment and trucks in safe working order.
  • Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers.
  • Identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
  • Understand safe heavy lifting and rigging procedures.
  • Adhere to all Company Safety and Health Policies.
  • Work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems.
  • Attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations and/or refresher training.
  • Work with limited supervision.
