About The Position

Jericho Road Community Health Center is hiring a part-time Safety Team Officer in its Safety Department to work across all Buffalo locations. The role supports the security of employees, patients, residents, visitors, and facilities by monitoring premises and access, responding to potential risks and emergencies, and helping people find appropriate assistance. The officer must work independently while recognizing when to seek direction from a supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of experience working on a safety team, in risk management, or in relevant work.
• Self-motivated and able to function independently, while knowing when to seek direction from a supervisor.
• Must have a New York State Security Guard License or obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, risk management, or an equivalent course of study.

Responsibilities

• Patrol premises regularly to detect signs of intrusion and ensure doors and windows are secure.
• Open and close Jericho Road Community Health Center facilities.
• Monitor and authorize the entry and departure of employees, visitors, residents, and patients, and maintain premises security.
• Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas and monitor the flow of people to prevent problems.
• Lead staff in proper procedures for securing areas during emergencies and drills.
• Complete incident reports as needed.
• Determine when emergency services should be contacted and call 911 when needed.
• Attend Crisis Prevention Intervention de-escalation training and all required mandatory and annual training.
• Monitor surveillance equipment.
• Identify areas of risk and respond swiftly and appropriately.
• Assist people with questions and concerns, direct them, find solutions, and refer requests to the appropriate team member for follow-through.
• Deter potential crime and physical danger to employees, patients, and residents across all locations.
