About The Position
The Safety Officer supports safety and security at a Job Corps center by inspecting the grounds and facility, documenting findings, responding to fires and incidents, providing first aid and CPR as needed, and helping de-escalate disturbances. The role also includes inspecting the GSA fleet, maintaining accurate security and transportation records, and logging and searching people entering and exiting the center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Two years of related experience in CPR/First Aid.
Nice To Haves
- One year of security or law enforcement experience, or successful military experience.
- Commercial driver's license with Air Brake and Passenger endorsements.
Responsibilities
- Make physical inspections and security checks of the grounds and facility, and document results.
- Report fires and assist in suppressing them.
- Investigate incidents on center and provide clear, accurate reports.
- Perform first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed.
- Control disturbances and assist staff in de-escalating volatile situations.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections on the General Services Administration fleet.
- Complete required security, vehicle, and transportation logs, documentation, and records accurately and on time.
- Accurately log and search employees, visitors, vendors, and students as they enter and exit the center.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
