About The Position

The Safety Specialist is responsible for providing knowledge and skills to generate and ensure a safe working environment for employees of our client companies. This role involves client assistance regarding compliance with state and federal laws, client company policies, and T&T Staff Management policies. The specialist will perform routine safety training sessions and meetings, conduct regular jobsite inspections to identify unsafe practices and conditions, document findings, and ensure all activity is entered into the client database weekly. They will enforce safety rules and procedures, work with management to apply disciplinary actions for violations, and develop/implement actions to minimize occupational injury and illnesses. The role also includes advising on specialty areas such as hazardous substances, noise protection, machinery safeguarding, and occupational injury/illness, while staying abreast of emerging worksite safety issues. Responsibilities also include thoroughly inspecting machinery, equipment, worksites, and working conditions to ensure compliance with regulations, observing workers' use of personal protective equipment, inspecting areas for fire-prevention equipment and safety supplies, and investigating accidents to ascertain causes and recommend preventive measures. The Safety Specialist will also demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment and adhere to the company vehicle policy, operating company-owned vehicles safely and professionally, maintaining them, and refraining from personal use. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Safety and Client Services.
  • Familiarity with OSHA Standards.
  • OSHA 10/30 hour training.
  • Computer Proficient.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • High school diploma or a GED.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with compliance regarding state and federal laws, client company policies, and T&T Staff Management policies.
  • Perform routine safety training sessions/meetings with client companies.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections of client companies to identify unsafe work practices/conditions.
  • Document findings and forward them to management.
  • Ensure all activity is entered in the client database weekly.
  • Enforce all safety rules/procedures at all times.
  • Work with management and other departments to apply adequate disciplinary procedures for safety rule violators.
  • Develop and implement actions to minimize occupational injury/illnesses.
  • Advise on specialty areas such as hazardous substances, noise protection, safeguarding machinery, and occupational injury/illness.
  • Keep abreast of emerging worksite area safety issues.
  • Advise management of potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Thoroughly inspect machinery, equipment, worksite, and working conditions to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Inspect machines and equipment for accident prevention devices.
  • Observe workers to determine the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Inspect specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.
  • Inspect worksite areas for potential hazards (falls, struck by, slips, falls, electrical, etc.).
  • Prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Investigate accidents to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety programs.
  • Demonstrate proper use of safety equipment.
  • Operate company-owned vehicles safely and professionally at all times.
  • Maintain the company vehicle as if it were one's own personal auto.
  • Understand that personal use of company vehicle is prohibited.
  • Ensure driving conduct is courteous and professional at all times.
