About The Position

The Safety Specialist provides support and ensures execution of company safety programs at the facility level to support company performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of work experience required, or a minimum of five years of progressive job experience including people, project, or account management with leadership and influencing skills required.
  • Experience training employees on safety, OSHA, and DOT management concepts required.
  • Knowledge of local, state, or federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to break down or modify complex technical information as needed to communicate it orally or in writing to non-technical company staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Valid Driver's License, current vehicle liability insurance, driving record within policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior manufacturing, DOT, bottling, and multi-facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits to ensure all facilities are prepared for regulatory, corporate and customer compliance audits including ISO, KORE, GAO, OSHA, or DOT.
  • Assist and develop local safety committees and champions to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Works with risk management, the TPA, and facility leaders to provide support for work comp, auto and general liability claims.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert to develop and implement company-wide safety training programs. Assigns training and provides completion status to departmental leaders.
  • Assists facility leaders to perform incident investigations, root cause analysis, and identification of corrective active plans.
  • Collaborates with external consultants who provide assessments of our compliance programs. Utilizes the findings to develop improvements to the current programs.
  • Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA) to identify potential hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Interacts with governmental agencies, including but not limited to OSHA and DOT, on an as needed basis.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure compliance.
