About The Position

The Safety Specialist Coordinator is responsible for providing a high level of customer service through maintaining a safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff and physicians. This care is provided through direct and indirect physical and verbal interactions with clients, modeling appropriate behaviors for clients, and monitoring daily client activities. She/he screens incoming clients/visitors for contraband and inventories all client property as well as monitoring surveillance equipment. The Safety Specialist Coordinator controls access to the center, answers/directs incoming clients, conducts physical security checks of the center grounds, and responds to fires and/or emergencies at the center. This position is responsible for assisting in the on-going training of Safety Specialists as it pertains to general safety procedures, safety policies, contraband processing, vehicle safety procedures, etc. This position is be responsible for assisting in the on-going training of Safety Specialists as it pertains to ProAct. This position is responsible for the on-going coordination of overall safety outfitting and maintenance for all vehicles. Is responsible for the on-going training of staff that are assigned to drive vehicles as it pertains to pre-driving safety checks, reporting vehicles issues, logging of such, etc. She/he may confirm and arrange all maintenance services and cleaning of vehicles. Will responsible for organizing and providing the vehicle safety notebooks, updated proof of insurance, and vehicle safety checklists in each vehicle. This position is also responsible for communicating safety trends, discrepancies, suggested improvements, etc. to the Program Director as necessary to maintain a safe and positive facility environment and vehicle operations. May be required to become a certified ProACT in-house trainer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED, HiSET, etc.)
  • One (1) year relevant experience in a Mental Health Field
  • Valid California Driver's License and clear DMV printout.
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification.
  • Valid Security Guard Registration with California BSIS (Bureau of Security and Investigative Services) OR commitment to register as a Security Guard with California BSIS within 90 days of employment required.
  • Relevant experience refers to experience in working with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or adults in an inpatient or outpatient setting, hospital setting, or setting where safety and security were primary focus.
