About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing and managing a Safety Committee, implementing and promoting safety policies, monitoring safety performance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role will also include organizing and maintaining safety materials, managing OSHA 300A forms, encouraging and managing close call (near-miss) reporting, ensuring the availability and timely inspection/replacement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and updating and managing all Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate will be committed to building a safety-first culture and actively engaging employees in safety decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Manage Safety Committee: Establish and manage a Safety Committee, ensuring the group includes representatives from various regions and levels of the organization. Lead regular Safety Committee meetings to discuss safety concerns, review incident reports, and propose solutions. Facilitate employee participation in the Safety Committee, ensuring their voices are heard in the development of safety policies and procedures. Organize safety-focused initiatives and promote safety awareness through the Safety Committee.
  • Promote a Safety-First Culture: Foster a culture where safety is the top priority for all employees, encouraging a mindset of vigilance and proactive safety practices across the organization. Ensure the Safety Committee plays an active role in creating and maintaining this culture, empowering employees to take ownership of workplace safety.
  • Develop and Enforce Safety Policies: Develop, implement, and enforce company safety policies and procedures (SOPs) to maintain a safe work environment. Review, update, and manage all safety-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect current regulations, industry best practices, and organizational needs. Ensure all employees are educated on the SOPs and receive regular training and updates.
  • Safety Training and Awareness: Provide ongoing safety training to all employees, ensuring they understand safety protocols and are trained in safe work practices. Incorporate feedback from the Safety Committee and employees into training materials to address specific safety concerns and improve awareness.
  • Encourage and Manage Close Call Reporting: Promote and facilitate the reporting of "close calls" (near-miss incidents) and other safety concerns by employees. Ensure that close call reports are addressed in a timely manner, with corrective actions taken. Analyze trends from close call reports and share findings with the Safety Committee to improve safety protocols.
  • PPE Management and Inspections: Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available to all employees, properly inspected, and replaced in a timely manner. Develop and implement a system to track the condition and usage of PPE, ensuring replacement or repair occurs when necessary.
  • OSHA 300A Forms Management: Manage OSHA 300A forms, ensuring that all work-related injuries and illnesses are accurately documented, recorded, and summarized. Submit OSHA 300A forms electronically as required and ensure compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
  • Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits, site inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. Share audit findings with the Safety Committee and implement improvements based on their feedback.
  • Investigate and Report Incidents: Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, and incidents to identify root causes. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, involving the Safety Committee in the process.
  • Compliance with Safety Regulations: Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as other local, state, and federal safety laws. Stay current with safety legislation and industry trends to ensure the organization is always operating at the highest safety standards.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct safety drills with the Safety Committee's involvement. Ensure the workplace is prepared for potential emergency situations by organizing regular drills and updating emergency response plans.
