Glenmont Job Corps Center is looking for an experienced Safety & Security Manager to lead our Safety & Security Department. This is more than a traditional security position. As the Safety & Security Manager, you'll oversee the people, procedures, and programs that help keep our students, employees, visitors, buildings, and campus safe. Think of this role as a combination of department leader, safety professional, investigator, trainer, problem-solver, and student advocate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of experience in military, law enforcement, and/or safety management
  • OSHA Certification required
  • Valid in-state driver's license required
  • Candidates must also meet company insurability requirements.
  • Must possess a valid in-State Drivers License and meet Company insurability requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.

  • Associates degree from an accredited school or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage employees within the Safety & Security Department, providing daily leadership and direction, coordinating staff schedules and coverage, training and developing employees, evaluating employee performance, recognizing strong performance, addressing performance concerns, participating in interviewing and hiring, handling appropriate corrective action, and maintaining adequate coverage throughout the Center.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, oversee visitor access and security procedures, help maintain student accountability, identify safety concerns throughout buildings and grounds, identify hazards before they lead to accidents, ensure safety concerns are documented and corrected, and support OSHA and workplace safety requirements.
  • Oversee the Center's Environmental Health Program.
  • Conduct student and staff-related investigations, interview individuals involved in incidents, gather and review relevant information, document findings, complete required incident and accident reports, track follow-up actions, identify patterns or recurring concerns, and recommend appropriate corrective or preventative measures.
  • Maintain required safety documentation, coordinate OSHA compliance efforts, review and analyze safety and security data, manage Significant Incident Report follow-up, prepare required reports and annual safety plans, coordinate the Center Safety Committee, conduct and document safety and accident-prevention training, and ensure required inspections and assessments are completed.
  • Conduct and coordinate training related to workplace safety, accident prevention, incident response, safety procedures, hazard awareness, Center safety expectations, and OSHA-related requirements.
  • Help employees throughout the Center understand how they contribute to maintaining a safe environment.
  • Help your team understand how to maintain safety while also treating students with respect, fairness, professionalism, and consistency.
  • Work with staff throughout the Center to appropriately respond to student concerns, behavioral situations, emergencies, and other issues that may affect the safety of the campus community.
  • Partner with Center leadership and teams across Residential Living, Counseling, Career Technical Training, Academics, Health & Wellness, Human Resources, Facilities, Recreation, Student Services, and Career Preparation and Transition Services.
