This role involves assisting the HS&E Department in ensuring compliance with Austal Safety Policies, Austal Fire and Flooding Plan, Corporate, State, and Federal regulations and guidelines regarding occupational safety & health. The Safety Representative will work with employees on safety issues, conduct site and equipment inspections, assist in accident investigations, and perform safety surveys to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions. The position also requires providing first response medical assistance, calibrating and interpreting air monitoring equipment, conducting monthly inspection programs, and responding to fires and hazardous material spills. The role requires collaboration with other safety personnel, supervisors, and managers, and adherence to company policies.
