About The Position

The Safety Officer is responsible for safety, risk management, and compliance at the Mary C. Winder Community Center. The role helps provide safe experiences for visitors through facility monitoring, policy enforcement, emergency response, and access control. The position offers flexible shifts.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of security experience.
• Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or willingness to become certified.
• Experience dealing with emergency situations.
• Willingness to obtain a New York State Security Guard License.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the CCTV system and use footage to identify potential security risks or incidents.
• Communicate and enforce safety and security policies and procedures respectfully and tactfully.
• Regularly patrol the facility to detect infractions, monitor risks, and ensure safety.
• Respond to emergencies and activate Community Center safety and emergency response plans as needed.
• Professionally and courteously control access to restricted areas during events.
