About The Position

The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures for the facility. This role ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety regulations. Key responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, leading incident investigations, managing critical safety programs, and coordinating employee training. The Safety Manager will also track safety metrics, partner with leadership for continuous improvement, facilitate safety committees, conduct Job Hazard Analyses, maintain compliance documentation, coordinate workers' compensation, and serve as the primary contact during regulatory inspections. Additionally, the role supports environmental compliance and develops emergency response procedures to foster a proactive safety culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience working in heavy manufacturing, industrial processing, metals, extrusion, or similar industrial operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures for the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments throughout the plant.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Manage and maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, confined space, fall protection, hot work, PPE, forklift, and other critical safety programs.
  • Coordinate and conduct employee safety orientation and ongoing training programs.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety metrics including OSHA recordables, near misses, lost time incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with plant leadership and supervisors to promote accountability and continuous safety improvement.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments for production operations and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and required compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation case management and return-to-work programs.
  • Serve as the primary contact during OSHA inspections and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure contractors and visitors comply with facility safety requirements.
  • Support environmental compliance initiatives as needed.
  • Develop emergency response procedures and coordinate drills and preparedness activities.
  • Promote a positive safety culture focused on proactive hazard identification and prevention.
