About The Position

Join an electrical contractor supporting a major upgrade project within an active steel manufacturing facility in Cleveland, OH. This role provides field-focused safety oversight for electrical construction activities performed in a complex heavy industrial environment. The Safety Manager will work closely with electrical crews and project leadership to manage hazardous-energy exposures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical hazards, simultaneous operations, and the unique risks associated with construction inside an operating steel plant. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical construction safety professional who is comfortable maintaining a strong field presence in a high-hazard industrial environment.

Requirements

  • OSHA 510 Certification or Higher
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience
  • Electrical construction safety experience required
  • Hands-on experience supporting Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs and energy isolation activities
  • Working knowledge of the Energy Wheel and hazardous-energy identification

Nice To Haves

  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
  • Steel mill or heavy industrial facility experience
  • NFPA 70E electrical safety experience
  • Industrial electrical construction experience
  • Experience supporting construction activities within active manufacturing or production facilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily field safety activities for electrical contractors performing steel plant upgrades
  • Maintain a highly visible field presence alongside electrical crews and project supervision
  • Conduct routine site inspections, safety audits, field observations, and risk assessments
  • Monitor electrical construction activities and identify potential hazardous-energy exposures
  • Support and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation requirements
  • Apply Energy Wheel principles to proactively identify hazardous-energy sources and exposures
  • Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task plans, permits, and energy control procedures
  • Support safe work planning for electrical installations and high-risk construction activities
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records
  • Partner with field supervision and project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the project

  • $56/hr (Local - No Per Diem)
  • $49/hr (Non-Local)
  • $135/Day Per Diem (7 Days Per Week for Candidates Residing 50+ Miles from the Project)
