About The Position

Sheakley is hiring an experienced Safety Manager to provide full-time, on-site safety oversight for a mechanical construction project in Indianapolis. The project involves the replacement of sanitary and vent piping inside an active facility. The Safety Manager will work directly with project leadership, supervisors, mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and craft personnel to ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with OSHA regulations, site requirements, and company safety standards. This is a hands-on field position for a safety professional who is comfortable working closely with crews, identifying hazards in real time, and addressing unsafe conditions before they result in incidents or project delays.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • Minimum five years of construction safety experience
  • Experience supporting active commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction regulations
  • Proven ability to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions
  • Strong field communication, documentation, and coordination skills
  • Ability to work the full four-day, 40-hour on-site schedule

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field safety oversight for mechanical and piping activities
  • Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments
  • Monitor work involving sanitary piping, vent piping, ladders, lifts, tools, material handling, and related construction activities
  • Verify compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements
  • Identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly
  • Review job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, permits, and required safety documentation
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and incident-prevention discussions
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective-action tracking
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, inspection records, training documentation, and incident reports
  • Partner with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and field crews to maintain a safe and productive jobsite
