About The Position

Kendall Hunt Publishing is seeking a driven Acquisitions Sales Representative to join their team. This role focuses on building relationships with college professors to develop lasting partnerships. The position is remote, requiring approximately three weeks of overnight travel per semester, alternating between working from home and visiting college campuses. The ideal candidate will be located in Indiana, specifically Indianapolis or Bloomington. The core responsibilities involve identifying business opportunities, interviewing professors, and persuading potential authors to partner with Kendall Hunt. The goal is to collaborate with talented educators to develop interactive and engaging educational materials that meet student needs and make a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Interview professors to identify business potential.
  • Persuade select candidates to work with the company by partnering with experts in their field.
  • Call on and travel to different colleges and universities in the territory to identify business opportunities.
  • Interview professors and persuade author candidates.
  • Partner with talented educators in charge of lower-level, higher-enrollment courses to develop more interactive and engaging materials.
  • Uncover new sales channels for current product lines or find new products to sell to current customers.
  • Effectively listen, ask questions, think creatively/critically, and close new business with prospective customers.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with professors, authors, team members, and internal employees.
  • Handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and customer service.
