About The Position

Establishes, investigates, and manages the safety programs for the company in order to promote a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment. Evaluates, investigates, and manages the company’s security and property protection programs.

Responsibilities

  • Processes all injury, accident and general liability claims for the company’s insurance carrier and proactively follows up on all claims until they are finalized.
  • Oversees Temporary Alternative Duty Program for Tampa facility and facilitates a prompt return to work for the employee(s).
  • Prepares monthly accident and injury reports.
  • Investigates all injury, accident, and general liability claims in partnership with manager to determine facts and causes.
  • Inspects or tours organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventative measures.
  • Follows up on all recommendations from management or safety/accident review committee to ensure they are implemented.
  • Maintains historical records for all injury, accident, and general liability claims and enters into the HRIS system.
  • Responsible for relationships with the Company designated health clinics, setting up service agreements, managing invoices, and working with clinics to determine appropriate pre-employment testing.
  • Trains all supervisors on proper procedures to process injury, accident, or general liability claims.
  • Maintains certifications for driver’s licenses, auto insurance and DOT cards and records information into HRIS system and maintains hardcopy files.
  • Responsible for implementation of general safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Conducts 1 ride-with or job shadow per month in Delivery, Sales, and Warehouse departments for Tampa facility.
  • Coordinates, and/or conducts safety training programs as needed for all employees and vendors.
  • Walks through facility at several times throughout the day and on all shifts to ensure employees are complying with safety policies and procedures and acts as a resource for employees on safety issues.
  • Takes corrective actions when safety violations are discovered or issues need to be addressed.
  • Coordinates random drug testing program for Tampa facility, including reporting, scheduling, and recording results.
  • Administers company’s safety bonus programs.
  • Evaluates security of company’s premises and products to prevent theft or loss of property.
  • Ensures security systems are functioning at all times.
  • Conducts full investigations of security breaches or thefts and takes corrective actions.
  • Ensures all vendors have proper liability insurance coverage.
  • Reads and reviews resources to stay informed of relevant laws or regulations.
  • Orders all safety materials or supplies needed for the facility.
  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources Manager in the administration of the workers' compensation program.
  • Attends National Safety Council meetings.
  • Assists with facilitating monthly Accident Review Committee meetings.
  • Consults with the company’s insurance representatives to determine loss ratios and trends.
  • Meets with department Managers quarterly to determine if any changes or improvements need to be made in relation to safety or security issues.
  • Facilitates entering all training records into HRIS (annual OSHA training, new hire training, specialized safety trainings).
  • Responds to expiring certification notifications and disseminates information and follows up with applicable managers.
  • Maintains certifications for driver’s licenses, taxable auto insurance and DOT cards and records information into HRIS system and files original copies with HR.
  • Maintains records for all incidents, injury, accident claims for general liability/ automotive/worker’s compensation and enters all necessary information into the HRIS system.
  • Works in conjunction with Human Resources to maintain all DOT driver files.
  • Completes DOT verifications.
  • Responds to all potential license issue notifications, communicates issues with applicable managers, and maintains tracking spreadsheet.
  • Adds all drivers into driver monitoring system on a consistent basis, while also auditing the system.
  • Assists with disseminating safety shoes vouchers to employees and processes payroll deductions.
  • Processes all requirements related to separation emails.
  • Maintains monthly safety documents for bonuses and tracks in spreadsheets.
  • Tracks behavior events in Lytx weekly and ensures accountability policy is applied.
  • Conducts New Hire Safety Orientation.
  • Collaborates with department supervisors and managers to develop monthly safety talks.
  • Studies and analyzes safety or security trends and reports findings to management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Human Resources Manager.
  • Works on special safety projects (Evacuation Drills, Emergency Action Plan Year Update).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
