Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with workplace safety inspections and hazard identification
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training materials
  • Participate in audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
  • Observe operations to identify unsafe behaviors or conditions
  • Assist in implementing corrective actions and safety improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with supervisors and employees to promote a strong safety culture
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities and drills
  • Help create or update safety bulletin boards and communication materials
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, or preparing documents
  • Participate in team projects related to ergonomics, wellness, or sustainability
  • Shadow different departments to learn about operations and safety practices
  • Contribute ideas for improving safety culture or engagement
  • Provide general support for the safety team as needed
