About The Position

Marquette is a leading provider of inland marine transportation services, operating over 130 towboats and controlling over 1,000 dry cargo barges. With a significant fleet and a large workforce, Marquette is the largest independent towing services provider in the inland waterways and the only fully integrated fleet in the industry. This paid summer internship offers hands-on experience in safety operations within the inland marine industry, focusing on how safety programs, audits, and training are implemented. Requirements

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent customer service skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Team player, dependability, punctuality, and professionalism are a must.

Responsibilities

Provide a full range of clerical/administrative support, including the composition and preparation of routine correspondence, presentations, and reports using computer software applications.
Develop and maintain efficient, positive control over all records associated with safety training, lesson plans, audits, corrective actions, manuals, and reports.
Document vessel audit results and track deficiencies and corrective actions.
Maintain database of audits/inspections and expiration dates.
Develop and maintain a database of training conducted onboard vessels and shore-side. Prepare reports and extracts as required.
Prepare and deliver meeting and training presentations and follow-up on timelines and deliverables.
Conduct safety training for shore-based and vessel employees.
Advise supervisor of any issues or recommendations to ensure orderly and efficient administrative operations.
Ability to travel and board vessels in remote areas on the river system.
Other duties as assigned.
