About The Position

The Safety Instructor must be knowledgeable in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations regarding License, Driver file maintenance, and Medical qualifications for drivers. They will maintain the ability to present information to new employees and/or contractors for successful onboarding. The candidate must possess excellent people skills, be highly organized, and detail-oriented. The candidate must be a self-starter and able to work without direct supervision daily.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations regarding License, Driver file maintenance, and Medical qualifications for drivers.
  • Ability to present information to new employees and/or contractors for successful onboarding.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter and able to work without direct supervision daily.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a CDL or ability to obtain one.
  • Must maintain a driver qualification file including entry into the driver random pool for drug testing.
  • Knowledge of Compliance management systems.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the presentation and implementation of appropriate corporate compliance policies, procedures, and training for all personnel.
  • Maintain training records and onboarding files to ensure applicants meet DOT regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of Driver Qualification records, including confirming proper compliance with the FMCSRs, MVR monitoring, and other records as needed.
  • Report on and maintain records of all driver violations including Citations, CSA violations, Out of Service Criteria, and Company Policies.
  • Knowledgeable and able to effectively communicate training based on CSA scores, Hours of Service, Basic safety, and defensive driving techniques.
  • Conduct other proactive safety-related training.
  • Complete onboarding audits for accuracy to ensure compliance with Federal Regulation and Company policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of recordkeeping for the company Drug testing policy, Privacy of Medical records related to FMCSR 391.41, citation processing, and other compliance-related items.
