This position is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating safety, compliance, and commercial driver training programs for new and existing employees across Georgia Power. The role places a strong emphasis on CDL driver competency, regulatory compliance, and measurable safety performance improvement. Training is primarily conducted in the Metro Atlanta area, with statewide travel required to support training delivery, safety initiatives, meetings, audits, and storm restoration activities, including occasional overnight stays. This position requires extensive field-based instruction, including spending significant time inside commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). The incumbent should expect to ride along with drivers and provide hands-on coaching for extended periods, typically 6-8 hours per day, while conducting behind-the-wheel training and evaluations. This role partners closely with hiring teams, supervisors, Workforce Development, and Power Delivery Technical Training to schedule and administer commercial driver onboarding, certification, and refresher training programs. The position also collaborates with Safety Specialists statewide to deliver consistent training, implement injury prevention strategies, and support Georgia Power’s Pursuing Safety Excellence culture. The position supports safety during storm restoration, promotes Southern Company’s wellness programs, and advances Behavior-Based Safety initiatives such as S.T.E.P. (Safety Through Everyone’s Participation) and Critical Risk Plans. Maintains confidentiality of safety-related information and actively participates in safety meetings, evaluations, and regulatory interactions.
