The Safety/Environmental/Health Coordinator will work to promote and enhance the safety culture and mindset throughout the Wisconsin and Ohio teams. This person will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the divisions’ safety and environmental programs, including leading training initiatives and ensuring all records are accurately maintained. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: co-authoring safety/operating and environmental procedures; auditing plant conditions and teammate actions; compiling, analyzing and reporting safety and environmental metrics; ensuring the division is in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines; participating in corporate initiatives. In addition, this person will work with outside auditors and government inspectors as necessary. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 4 year college degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline OR 2 years of safety related experience in an industrial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, involve, and promote the participation of Teammates in Safety practices to maintain an injury-free workplace.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 and travel as required
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a safety or environmental coordinator
  • Safety/Emergency services certification
  • OSHA and VPP experience
