About The Position

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid US Driver's License.
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Assess workplace hazards and support the implementation of controls to protect personnel, the environment, facilities, and hardware.
  • Perform basic to moderate safety tasks under direction, including reviewing routine hazardous Work Authorization Documents (WADs), assisting in the development of safety analyses and reports, and supporting execution of safety processes.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and operations.
  • Deliver safety briefings to subcontractors.
  • Observe work activities to verify compliance with established safety protocol.
  • Prepare risk assessments and safety documentation using standard templates while applying a working knowledge of NASA, OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI requirements.
  • Effectively support operational teams and stakeholders with strong analytical, communication, and customer interface skills.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools to document findings, track actions, and communicate results.
  • Progressively build proficiency and independence in assigned responsibilities.
  • Work closely with senior personnel, receiving mentorship and guidance on standard tasks.
  • Contribute to hazard identification, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement of safety performance across industrial and operational environments.
