About The Position
Chinchor Electric, Inc. is a family-owned and operated company with 40 years in business, recognized as an Orlando Sentinel's Top Workplaces award winner in 2024 and 2025. They are a Commercial and Industrial Electrical contractor specializing in Heavy Industrial Electrical, Highway Lighting, and Traffic Signalization projects. Chinchor Electric works with both corporate and government clients, maintaining yearly contracts with several counties and the Florida Department of Transportation. With locations in Orange City and St. Augustine, they serve the entire state of Florida. Chinchor Electric is seeking a motivated and hardworking Safety Coordinator for their Orange City office.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of dedicated construction safety experience
- Valid Driver Licenses, must maintain clean driving record frequently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- Preferred OSHA 30 or OSHA 510 certificate
Responsibilities
- Lead safety onboarding and orientation programs for new hires while educating employees on company safety policies, hazard communication, and reporting procedures.
- Conduct hands-on training and competency assessments for bucket truck, boom lift, and scissor lift operators, ensuring safe equipment operation and compliance with industry standards.
- Facilitate fall protection training for elevated work activities, including highway lighting, traffic signal, and industrial substation projects, ensuring compliance with anchorage and harness requirements.
- Deliver classroom instruction, field evaluations, and recertification training for forklift operators handling heavy electrical materials, transformers, switchgear, and conduit systems.
- Train and evaluate employees on the safe operation, inspection, guarding, and maintenance of industrial machinery and specialized electrical equipment.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety policies and procedures for industrial electrical, lift station, wastewater treatment, and DOT roadway construction projects.
- Perform routine safety audits and hazard assessments to identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions related to MOT, grounding, lockout/tagout, and other high-risk activities.
- Investigate workplace injuries, utility strikes, vehicle accidents, electrical incidents, and near-misses while conducting root-cause analyses and preparing detailed incident reports.
- Ensure organizational compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E standards, FDOT specifications, and all applicable local, state, and federal safety requirements.
- Develop emergency action plans, coordinate first-aid response efforts, inspect emergency equipment, and serve as a liaison between field operations, management, and emergency response agencies.
