About The Position

Big-D Construction is hiring a Safety Coordinator to work on a specific jobsite as part of its construction safety team. The position is based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, or Reno, Nevada, and works with safety staff and project leadership to foster a zero-harm culture. The coordinator monitors jobsite activity and safety conditions, documents findings, supports training and hazard analysis, responds to safety concerns and incidents, and helps ensure compliance with applicable safety standards. Willingness to travel is highly preferred.

The role requires regular, timely, and predictable attendance. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed to meet business needs.

Requirements

• Experience working in a safety capacity on large commercial projects.
• OSHA 30-hour training.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Willingness to travel is highly preferred.
• OSHA outreach instructor (OSHA 500) certification is preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or other safety certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work on a specific jobsite with the safety team and leadership to create a zero-harm culture.
• Monitor jobsite activity for inspections and administrative tasks.
• Document site conditions focused on safety through photographs and written reports.
• Review site safety conditions, assist project leadership in developing improvement plans, and document information on a computer.
• Assist with special employee site safety training meetings addressing project-specific safety or risk concerns, and provide detailed meeting reports to the site project team and corporate safety director.
• Provide specialty training as required and needed.
• Hold monthly safety training meetings for supervisors and foremen.
• Review infractions and improvements with site management personnel and document progress electronically using digital photos, spreadsheets, word processing, email, and other approved processes.
• Respond to safety concerns brought to the coordinator's attention.
• Respond to safety incidents and assist project management with accident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Respond to incidents and accidents to provide additional investigative analysis.
• Assist in compiling information and data for job activity hazard analysis.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety standards on all jobsites.
• Maintain regular, timely, and predictable attendance.
• Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
