About The Position

Big-D Construction is hiring a Safety Coordinator to join its construction team, working on a specific jobsite and partnering with the safety team and project leadership to foster a zero-harm culture. The position is based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, or Reno, Nevada. The coordinator monitors jobsite activity and safety conditions, documents findings, supports safety training and incident investigations, and helps ensure compliance with applicable safety standards. Willingness to travel is highly preferred.

Requirements

• Experience working in a safety capacity on large commercial projects.
• OSHA 30-hour training required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Willingness to travel is highly preferred.
• OSHA outreach instructor (OSHA 500) certification preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or other safety certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work on a specific jobsite with the safety team and leadership to create a zero-harm culture.
• Monitor jobsite activity and complete inspections and administrative tasks.
• Document site conditions and project safety conditions using photographs and written reports.
• Review site safety conditions, help develop improvement plans with project leadership, and document the information electronically.
• Assist with special employee safety training meetings addressing project-specific safety or risk concerns, and provide detailed meeting reports to the site project team and corporate safety director.
• Conduct specialty training as needed.
• Hold monthly safety training meetings for supervisors and foremen.
• Review infractions and improvements with site management and document progress using digital photos, spreadsheets, word processing, email, and other approved processes.
• Respond to safety concerns.
• Respond to safety incidents and assist project management with accident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Respond to incidents and accidents to provide additional investigative analysis.
• Assist in compiling information and data for job activity hazard analyses.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety standards on all jobsites.
• Maintain regular, timely, and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
