About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Safety Coordinator to support the safe startup, and commissioning of a manufacturing facility. This role will play a critical part in establishing a strong safety foundation supporting contractor management, startup readiness, and implementation of health and safety systems as the facility transitions into operations. Working closely with the Project Coordinator, contractors, and internal stakeholders, the Safety Coordinator will help ensure all project phases are executed in compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and best practices. This is a 7–9-month contract with possibility of extension. Due to the hands-on nature of the work you’ll be doing, this is a 100% on-site role.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of safety experience in construction, manufacturing, commissioning, or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of contractor safety management, risk assessments, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
  • The ability to communicate in French with our Quebec team is important.
  • Strong English skills are also required to collaborate effectively with our suppliers and global team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting greenfield projects, facility startups, or major expansions considered a strong asset.
  • CRSP or other safety certification considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate safety oversight for construction, installation activities, and implementation of safety controls.
  • Ensure the safety performance and compliance of contractors, vendors, and external trades working on site, including orientation, monitoring, and permit controls.
  • Partner with the Site B Project Coordinator to ensure all work is conducted in accordance with project safety requirements, risk controls, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSA/JHAs), and risk reviews for construction, equipment installation, and startup activities.
  • Support development and implementation of site-specific safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, contractor management, and permit-to-work processes.
  • Perform regular site inspections, audits, and safety observations, identify hazards, and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Coordinate and deliver contractor and employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and project safety communications.
  • Support safe installation and startup readiness of manufacturing lines, utilities, electrical systems, offices, and warehouse operations.
