About The Position

At Piscataqua Landscaping & Tree Service, safety is central to everything we do. As our Safety & Compliance Manager, you will lead the programs and processes that champion a strong safety culture across all branch locations. This hands-on role is responsible for safety training, OSHA compliance, incident investigations, workers’ compensation, fleet safety, and new-hire orientation. Working closely with General Managers, Field Supervisors, and HR, you will help ensure safety standards are consistently applied, maintained, and improved. This position supports all branch locations and requires regular travel in a company-issued vehicle.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of safety, occupational health, or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Experience with incident investigations, workers' compensation, and safety training programs.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Must be comfortable addressing large groups and working with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Technologically savvy and comfortable navigating a variety of software, including MS Office Suite.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to safety and compliance.
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Landscape knowledge and/or experience preferred, but not required!
  • Spanish language skills at any level are a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate company-wide safety programs, OSHA compliance, safety meetings, and required documentation.
  • Conduct routine and unannounced inspections across branch locations.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, training records, SDS documentation, and safety reports.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and annual audits.
  • Oversee vehicle, property, and liability claims, serving as the primary contact with insurance carriers and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver new-hire safety orientation and ongoing safety training programs.
  • Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections and support employee wellness initiatives.
  • Monitor DOT compliance, vehicle inspections, GPS data, and motor vehicle records.
  • Track CDL, DOT, driver's license, and specialty license renewals.
  • Manage Clearinghouse, DISA, and CDL testing requirements.
  • Travel regularly to branch locations to support safety and training initiatives.
  • Manage safety supply inventory and ordering.
  • Assist with winter snow operations.
  • Perform Manager on Duty responsibilities as assigned.
