About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Manager who will be Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Center’s Safety and Security Program. This role involves managing and directing the operations of the Safety and Security Department, providing supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for safety and security staff. The position also entails implementing and administering health, safety, environmental, and fire prevention/protection procedures and policies, conducting inspections, and training staff on emergency procedures. The Manager will develop emergency evacuation plans, act as Center Director in their absence, serve as a trusted advisor to the Center Director and a member of the senior leadership team, and act as the contact person for local emergency and disaster officials. Responsibilities include conducting monthly Safety Committee Meetings, investigating accidents, injuries, and illnesses to identify causes and reduce future occurrences, and investigating incidents where a crime may have been committed. The role requires providing written and oral reports, establishing liaison with local law enforcement, managing and administering a departmental budget, approving requisitions for security equipment, overseeing inventory control and maintenance of security equipment, and planning and controlling the use of overtime and on-call staff.

  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations governing workplace safety (OSHA) and security

  • Knowledge of internal investigation processes
  • Excellent student and staff interaction skills
  • Sound time management, organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proven ability to formulate, develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures related to safety and security policy
  • Proficient in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs the operation of the Center’s Safety and Security Department.
  • Provides supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for safety and security staff.
  • Implements and administers Center health, safety, environmental and fire prevention/protection procedures and policies.
  • Performs weekly, monthly, and quarterly environmental inspections.
  • Trains Center Staff to use proper procedures in the event of a disaster and/or emergency.
  • Develops emergency evacuation plans for all buildings.
  • Acts as Center Director in the absence of the same.
  • Acts as trusted advisor to the Center Director and is a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Serves as the contact person for local emergency and disaster officials.
  • Conducts Center Safety Committee Meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Conducts investigations of accidents, injuries and illnesses with the goal of resolution and reduction of future occurrences.
  • Investigates all staff/student incidents where a crime may have been committed.
  • Provides written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff.
  • Establishes liaison and maintains harmonious relations with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Manages and administers a departmental budget and works within budgetary constraints.
  • Approves requisitions for security equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Oversees inventory control and maintenance of security equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.
