About The Position

Oversees the safety of Goodwill’s (GIGCA) employees, participants, volunteers, customers, and protects the organization by implementing safety policies and programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of all pertinent federal and state safety regulations, filing and compliance requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and presentation skills; computer proficiency, ability to identify and communicate site-specific ideas and programs.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; good follow-up skills.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Driver license for 3 years.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance Verification, required.
  • Must pass MVR check and maintain a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree of environmental health and safety or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Through words and actions support GIGCA’s Mission, Vision, and Values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.
  • Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.
  • Researches, develops, and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule for routine inspections.
  • Responsible for safety inspections/audits of all stores, warehouse, ADC sites and administration locations regarding safety/compliance with company policy, OSHA, TOSHA, and DOT regulations. Regular travel required.
  • Research & develops health and safety policies and procedures for GIGCA and puts programs in place to prevent repeated safety incidents and train through near-miss examples.
  • Responsible for reporting worker’s compensation for employee, incidents for customer, and property damage to insurance (in conjunction with the VP of Finance).
  • Following up through the life cycle of the claim which includes, investigation, documenting, training employees, with the intent of future cost reduction to GIGCA and suggest proactive recommendations to improve safety.
  • Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
  • Assures all processes and procedures are in compliance with OSHA, TOSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics ensuring we are compliant with annual safety training and CARF.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Works with maintenance department in completing safety maintenance orders and escalating them as needed.
  • Ensures that safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Demonstrates and continual learner in practical knowledge and application of Safety.
  • Handles confidential material, demonstrates a high level of trustworthiness and integrity.
  • Conducts safety investigations and may assist in LP investigations.
  • Conducts EGRESS, fire drills and other drills and training as needed.
  • Assists in issuing alarm codes and keys to store, OC, and warehouse employees.
  • Assist with coordination of Drug and Alcohol Policy with HR.
  • Oversees and elevates Safety Committee meetings.
  • Assist in all LP functions as needed.
  • Responsible for coordination of monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections related to life safety equipment, fire, backflow, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Coordinate external partners for building and safety inspections.
  • Job Hazard Assessment/Analysis.
  • Ensure organization training i.e. CPR requirements are met, scheduled, tracked, and monitored to meet organizational intent.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
