About The Position

ESS provides multi-service capability to major companies and organisations operating in remote sites, gold mines and resources sectors across Australia. We provide vital workplace support for people working in some of the most isolated terrains in the country, from remote WA sites to offshore operations and regional hubs. Working closely with the Compass Group Site Management Team, the Safety Advisor plays a key role in providing specialist advice, direct support, and resources across health and safety. This position is responsible for implementing Compass Group’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) management systems at site level, while driving continuous improvement and fostering a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Degree, Diploma, or minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
  • ICAM investigation training and strong root cause analysis capability (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Health, Safety, Environment, or a related discipline
  • Current driver’s licence (essential)
  • Previous site-based HSEQ experience in remote, mining, or resources environments highly regarded
  • Training and Assessment qualification (TAE) – desirable
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders, with the ability to influence and engage operational teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach, advise, and drive behavioural change
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and hazard management
  • Exposure to food safety or HACCP environments advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice to support compliance with Compass Group’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Management System, including food safety
  • Conduct risk assessments and support the development and implementation of safe work procedures
  • Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and close-out of corrective actions
  • Support Return to Work processes and injury management activities
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual audits in line with system and client requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative, company, and client standards
  • Drive sustainable improvements in safety performance and promote a proactive safety culture across site teams
