About The Position

The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of recreational vehicles (RVs), including motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and campers. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC, as well as the ability to work on various RV components. The Service Technician must perform tasks efficiently while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an automotive or RV technician, or similar field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of RV systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of issues with minimal supervision.
  • Must be thorough in inspecting vehicles, identifying problems, and documenting work.
  • Effective communication with customers and service advisors regarding repair needs and recommendations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, including bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Requires the use of hands to operate tools, equipment, and RV components.
  • May need to climb ladders and work at heights when repairing roof-mounted systems.
  • Must have good visual acuity and hearing ability to detect issues during diagnostic procedures and ensure safety.

Nice To Haves

  • RVDA-RVIA certification preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with RV industry standards and regulations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues in RV systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliances.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on RV components such as generators, slide-outs, water systems, roof structures, awnings, leveling systems, and suspension systems.
  • Conduct regular maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.
  • Install new components and accessories, such as satellite systems, solar panels, tow packages, hitches, and electronic upgrades.
  • Perform structural repairs, including repairing water damage, roof resealing, and floor restoration.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations and DeMontrond’s safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers to understand repair needs and explain completed work.
  • Document all repair work, maintenance performed, parts used, and time taken for each job in the company’s service system.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure that repairs and installations meet DeMontrond’s standards and customer expectations.
