About The Position

Expansion International is partnering with a healthcare interpreting and language services provider to recruit Medical Video Remote Interpreters, including Russian speakers, as the client expands its remote interpreting capacity across the US healthcare system. The role is fully remote and connects healthcare professionals with patients who are more comfortable communicating in a language other than English, primarily by video and occasionally by phone. Full training is provided, and professional interpreting experience is beneficial but not required if the candidate demonstrates strong bilingual fluency and an understanding of interpreting. The interpreter facilitates clear, accurate communication between English-speaking healthcare providers and Russian-speaking patients without adding, omitting, or changing meaning. This is a client-facing position involving sensitive and sometimes high-pressure medical situations. Composure, confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, professional conduct, and a dedicated quiet workspace are essential. Candidates complete a structured evaluation and, if successful, a foundations training programme before beginning live sessions. The role is based remotely in the Philippines or Malaysia and requires night-shift hours aligned with US Eastern Time; the exact schedule is to be confirmed.

Requirements

Fluent, professional-level verbal communication in English and Bengali (as stated in the posting).
A genuine understanding of medical interpreting, which may come from informal experience such as interpreting for family members rather than formal employment.
Ability to interpret medical information accurately and completely in both languages.
Willingness to complete a medical interpreting proficiency assessment as part of the selection process.
Cultural responsiveness and comfort working within the US healthcare context.
Strong professional reliability, sound judgement, and a customer service mindset.
Comfort with video conferencing platforms and adapting to new remote technology.
Ability to pass background and drug screening.
A dedicated home workspace reserved for the role: a private, distraction-free room with a locking door, where others cannot see the screen, and wired high-speed internet; Wi-Fi, hotspot, satellite, and DSL are not accepted.
Comfort being on camera for the majority of each shift.
Based in the Philippines or Malaysia and available to work remotely.
Availability for night-shift hours aligned with US Eastern Time; exact schedule to be confirmed.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical interpreting experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare setting.
Formal medical interpreter training, or a related certificate or degree.
National medical interpreter certification, such as CCHI or NBCMI, where available for the language.
Experience interpreting over video or telephone platforms.
Working knowledge of medical terminology in English and Russian.
Experience in healthcare or clinical support roles.
Experience in customer service, call centre, or BPO environments with a high standard of professionalism.
Experience in language services, translation, or interpreting, whether formal or informal.

Responsibilities

Provide accurate, complete, and respectful video interpreting between English and Russian, with occasional over-the-phone sessions.
